I am lecturer at the School of Public Health at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. I convene the Descriptive Epidemiology and the Epidemiology of Non Communicable Disease Modules. I am also a researcher whose research interests aim at bringing about a change in issues relating to malnutrition among Africans, in a broader sense addressing nutrition related health inequalities especially in marginalized populations. Over the years, my research focus has been on the double burden of nutrition, body image, obesogenic environment and health knowledge, which are major risk factors for metabolic disorders (especially, diabetes and hypertension).
